Tottenham Realistic Signings and targets

May 31, 2008

The only fnished a few weeks ago, but already Tottenham have been linked with what seems like half the players around the world. I am going to go through our realistic targets and ones we should press hard to capture in order to push for a top 4/5 finish this season.

CoupetGregory Coupet – With Cerny moving to QPR and Robinson looking set to move (middlesborough bound I think) I feel if the reports linking us with the French international are true then we should make a move as soon as we can.  His age is of no importance as long as he can still do the job on the pitch; and like David james; he seems to be getting better with age. I feel even if we only get a couple of years from him, he would be a great signing and a proven keeper. If this is not possible then I feel Joe Hart should be our next target, still young and proven in the premier league.

Richard Dunne – Voted Manchester City fans player of the year for the past four years, Dunne is a must. With the latest news being Harry Redknapp confirming interest in the Republic of Ireland star, I feel we should do what we can to beat Portsmouth to his signature. Look at what we can offer compared to Portsmouth.

Play in London for a club on the up with superb fans or play in Portsmouth with 1 good fan and an average attendance of about 14,000, our wages are likely to be bigger and with Rocha set to leave and King and Woodgate known for injuries; surely Dunne will see this is a great oppourunity. I watched Dunne last season and said how i’d love him to join Spurs, and whats more; if all went well it could mean releasing Ledley King into the holding midfield role he did so well 4 years ago.

Along with the hopeful captures of Giovani Dos Santos from Barcalona and Diego Capel from Ramos’ former club Seville which would be two class signings I feel next season could be one to watch… and we’ve all heard that before!!!

My team come August 2008 (Realistic)

Coupet

Hutton   Dunne   Woodgate

King

Lennon  Modric  Dos Santos   Capel

Berbatov   Keane

And then look at the players we would have as backup, Jenas, Malbranque, Bale, Gilberto… We would have such great squad depth.
